Haven [hey-vuh n] originated before 1050 in Middle English from the word "hæfen," meaning refuge or shelter.
Ever since I was a child I loved to go antiquing with my aunt and grandma at garage sales! I started collecting vintage Barbie’s & metal lunch boxes! Growing up I loved watching Little House on the Prairie which is what started my love for farming history! That grew to learning about even older periods in Europe & obsessively watching Tales From the Green Valley, Victorian Farm, Edwardian Farm, Victorian Pharmacy, Tudor Monastery Farm, & all the River Cottage, Monty Don, & Carol Klein series. I absolutely love learning about farming, food, & biblical history which makes me love antiques even more! I’m all about using them instead of leaving them on a shelf to collect dust!
I'm always hunting at thrift stores and picking through antique shops for great treasures! I personally love to collect old French pottery oil/water/confit jugs & pots, European gardening tools (Haws watering cans, glass cloches, dibbers, old pots, tools), French bistro tables/chairs, copper pots, French bottle drying racks, hand forged iron decor, hand carved rustic wood furniture, European bread boards, lots of wicker baskets, French wire salad/egg baskets, linen clothes, straw hats/bags, natural utilitarian things, tons of old farming books, & anything European that reminds me of a simple country life.
When I’m not working I’m happily at home with my kids, our heritage chickens, & soon bees! You’ll almost always find me outside gardening, landscaping, foraging, hiking, biking, fossil hunting, or restoring our 100+ year old house! I also have a passion for preserving all kinds of foods & drinks. I have dreamed of living in the countryside my whole life & having a real homestead, in an old stone fixer upper, driving an old Land Rover Defender ;), & hope to someday. I hope you enjoy your treasures as much as I enjoyed finding them!
