5 French Jam Jars
5 French Jam Jars
Set of 5 French jam jars. These are very popular in France for collecting! These were the types of jam jars before bale closures with glass lids were invented. The old way of making jam with these jars is you fill them up with jam, check for air bubbles, place a brandy soaked paper disc directly on top of the jam, then 3 pieces of paper across the top rim brushed with egg white to seal the jar. It would be fun to do that with these jars otherwise they could be used as drinking glasses, candles, watercolor glasses for painting, organizing notions in a craft room, canning chutney, etc.
They are made of thick glass. Some of them say 500 Made in France & some of them say 500. I will choose some from my collection! They have beveled sides with a curved rim. May have variations in color & size.
