French farmhouse wire egg/salad basket. These baskets were originally used for harvesting salad greens until they became popular for collecting eggs! People used to cut their greens, put them in the basket, then wash them through the basket, & shook the basket to drain them off. There's no wire closure at the top of this basket, like my other ones, so you'd have to hold your hand on it so the greens wouldn't come out. I love using these baskets for collecting our eggs! You could even use it for storing twine & a pair of scissors, like I have, then pull the end of the ball through the bottom to cut it.

This basket has feet on it as well but no closure loops on the opening. The handle doesn't move either. It is made of thicker metal with rust & patina on it. It features a coil around the handle.
